Missions

We believe in being the hands and feet of God; therefore, we are involved in many missions in our community. Here is a sampling of what we do; take a look and see how you can get involved!

Backpack Program: Every week, members of our church meet at various schools in Sheridan to pack backpacks for students to take home over the weekend. This provides them with non-perishable food that can be easily prepared (if necessary) so they will have food to eat while they are away from the two meals they receive during school. Those who would like to help but cannot be there to pack may contribute financially by marking their offering envelope “Backpack Program.”

Mission Team: The Mission team goes out into the community to make wheelchair ramps for anyone who needs one in order to get into their home. They also help with maintenance work at Faith House, the women’s shelter for Grant County.

Summer Feeding Program: This is a major effort through the Grant County Ministerial Alliance to feed the hungry in our area throughout the summer when students are not in school.

In 2018, the Alliance provided 13,587 meals at an average of just over 340 meals per day. A total of 20 churches in Grant County and the East End community either provided volunteers or donations, with over 125 volunteers helping to distribute lunches. Since the summer feeding program began in 2014, we have issued a total of 28,358 meals.

To continue this program that is essential to eliminate hunger in our community, your assistance through financial donations and volunteers is critical. Feeding children in our community last summer required approximately $950 per day. For 2019, our goal is to raise $45,000 and to provide over 15,000 meals! You can mark your offering envelope “Summer Feeding Program” for financial contributions, and if you would like to volunteer, please contact Mike Carpenter.
