Focus: John Wesley and Small Groups

One emphasis this past June at Annual Conference in Hot Springs for our 643 Methodist churches was the Vital Disciples’ focus on the importance of Discipleship Small Groups, based on the model of Rev. John Wesley and the early Methodists. Jesus set the example for us with His small group of twelve disciples through which Jesus has changed the world.

In October & November on Sunday evenings from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., I’ll be leading an eight-week study on John Wesley’s Class Meeting. These discipleship groups were the heart and soul of the Methodist Church in England and in America which in the 1800’s  the Methodist Church was the largest Protestant denomination in the United States.

I encourage each of you to be involved in one of the many small groups in our church:  Sunday school class, Bible studies, UM Kids, UM Youth, UM Women, or UM Men.

Small groups are one of the means of grace God uses to transform each of us into the image and likeness of Jesus our Savior.

In Christ’s love,

– Bro. Daniel
