We’re not sure where 2016 has gone, but it flew by in a hurry! I want to wish each of you a safe, prosperous, and Happy New Year!
Our church was at its best in December for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Our fine worship services, Children’s Christmas program, the Choir’s Christmas Cantata, the UM Women’s Christmas Dinner, and our UM Youth leading the way with missions and giving made it a season in which we honored the birth of ourSavior.
We also want to express our thanks to our outstanding Church Staff, which worked overtime during December to help our church and facilities be at its best during this holy season: Julia Stinson, Dana Teel, and Laura Daniel of our music ministry; Joe and Shannon Archer leading our UM Youth; Nicole Cacciatori and the UM Kids volunteers; our Soul Food Kitchen chefs, with Peggy Schee; Betty Lancaster, Meghan Wright-Gentry, Sandie Scott, Andrey Archer, and David Puckett, support staff for their dedicated service.
I thank God for each of you – for your faith in Jesus Christ our dedication and love for His Church. There’s a big smile on the face of outgoing Finance Chair Charles Tadlock because of the outstanding giving in 2016 which allowed our church to complete our Conference apportionment commitment in October, and finish the year strong financially. That also puts a big smile on our incoming 2017 Finance Chair, Chris Cody.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday, January 1,2017, as our college students lead us in worship. Be sure to eat your black eyed peas and turnip greens on January first – our Southern tradition of welcoming in theNew Year!
Love in Christ,
