I pray that each of you has a safe, prosperous, and Happy New Year! And I hope everyone ate their black-eyed peas and turnip greens on January 1st – our Southern tradition of welcoming in the New Year!
Our church was at its best in December for Advent and Christmas seasons. Our fine worship services, Children’s Christmas pageant, the Choir’s Christmas Cantata, the UM Women’s Christmas Dinner, and our UM Youth leading the way with missions and giving made it a season in which we honored the birth of our Savior.
I want to express my thanks to our outstanding Church Staff who worked overtime during December to help our church and facilities to be at its best during this holy season: Julia Stinson, Dana Teel, and Laura Daniel of our music ministry; Robin Roark, our fearless UM Youth director; Nicole Cacciatori and the UM Kids volunteers; our Soul Food Kitchen chefs, with Peggy Schee; and Betty Lancaster, Ms. Meghan Wright-Gentry, Ms. Sandie Scott, Ashton Archer and Christine Thompson, and David Puckett, support staff for their dedicated service.
I thank God for each of you—for your faith in Jesus Christ and your dedication and love for His Church. There’s a big smile on the face of outgoing Finance Chair Charles Tadlock because of the generous giving in 2017 which allowed our church to complete our Conference apportionment commitment and finish the year once again on a strong note financially. And that also puts a big smile on our incoming 2018 Finance Chair, Chris Cody.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday, January 7, 2018, as we start the New Year off right with the first Sunday in 2018.
Love in Christ,
– Bro. Daniel
